THANKSGIVING'S This & That with Arielle Nissenblatt
This post was initially published on Revue, a newsletter platform run by Twitter. This and That was moved to Beehiiv in December 2022. This is a re-post, so there may be some inconsistencies and elements that didn't survive the content import.
Hi, This & That-ers!
Happy almost Thanksgiving to those celebrating! This issue will be a quickie. I'm here for two reasons:
To share some podcast-related Thanksgiving things
To let you know that I'm switching newsletter distribution platforms
More on those things below
If we haven't met yet, hi! I'm Arielle Nissenblatt. Nissenblatt rhymes with "this and that." Hence, the name of the newsletter.
I work at SquadCast, run EarBuds, help out at Tink, cohost Sounds Profitable's podcast, work on Podcast Taxonomy, and other projects. So this newsletter will come to you sporadically. It's my experiment with inconsistency in content creation. HOWEVER...
HOWEVER, I will pop in occasionally to share podcast recommendations, thoughts on podcasting, and to ask questions of you. NOW is one of those times.
I'll deliver recommendations and advice in digestible, actionable bullet points.
Transparency stats
This newsletter is going out to 400 people!
Last time, it went to 396
We had 1 unsubscribe
Open rate: 29.52% (down from 46.18% - interesting)
Click rate: 17.24%
Why am I sharing transparency stats?
It's fun. Why not!?
Email marketing is a fun experiment
Let's get into it...
Thanksgiving Podcast Things
AKA a mix of recommendations and things I'm thankful for:
I loved this episode of The Best Advice Show with Jessi Hempel about dealing with family things around the holidays.
I'm a big fan of Kimi Culp's Thanksgiving message on her show, All The Wiser. She used it as a way to say thank you to her guests (and thus, promote older episodes). Marketing genius!
The Podcasting Community Discord is off to an incredible start. We're at almost 1000 members — in three weeks! Thank you to everyone for contributing so willingly and to my co-moderators for springing into action so quickly. Join.
Content is Queen's Micro Grants announcement. This is an amazing resource for creators. Learn more.
Canadian podcasters. And Kattie Laur. Eh?
This Twitter timeline cleanse, stuffed with podcast cover art inspiration and glow-ups. (Yes, I am still on Twitter).
New Newsletter Distribution Platform
According to this article (and other sources), Revue, Twitter's newsletter platform — that I use for this newsletter — is shutting down. So, I'm taking you with me to another distribution platform called Beehiiv.
If you're thinking of starting a newsletter for your podcast or brand, let me know. I have ideas for you and can steer you in the right direction. I've only gone through the setup process with Beehiiv but it's been remarkably smooth. P.s. I'm not an affiliate...yet. Will Revue shadow ban this issue because of my endorsement of another product? We shall see!
This is all to say...Let me know if you DON'T want to stay subscribed by...unsubscribing here (I hope you'll stay) and I'll make sure you don't receive the next issue when it eventually comes out via Beehiiv. While you're here, let me know what you like or want to see more of in this newsletter! Just hit "reply."
This fourth issue of This and That with Arielle Nissenblatt was fueled by eating too many Pepperidge Farm Milano cookies. I cannot stop.
Happy podcasting / listening,
Arielle
